“America’s Sweetheart” - Debbie Reynolds
September 7, 9-12
Atlantic City, NJ - August 7, 2008 – America’s Sweetheart is coming to Resorts! Resorts Atlantic City announced that the incomparable Debbie Reynolds will take center stage in the Superstar Theater, Sunday, September 7 through Friday, September 12 (dark Sept 8).
Mary Frances Reynolds, better known as Debbie Reynolds, has been entertaining audiences from the silver screen to the TV screen, from Broadway nights to nightclub lights, for more than six decades. It's her unique combination of singing, acting and dancing talents that have made her such a mainstay in the entertainment world.
In 1957, Reynolds proved that her success transcended beyond the silver screen when she landed a number-one hit song with her recording of "Tammy" from the film of the same name. But she was no stranger to successful recordings. Prior to “Tammy,” Reynolds enjoyed success with the song she sang with Carlton Carpenter, “Aba Daba Honeymoon" in the film Two Weeks With Love. In 1973, she took the Broadway musical stage by storm with her critically acclaimed performance in the revival of Irene.
At age 16, her storied career began. Mary Francis Reynolds won a Miss Burbank contest title and a Warner Brothers screen test. She then became Debbie Reynolds. In 1950, she burst on to the movie scene with the musical, Three Little Words starring Fred Astaire and Red Skelton. It was in 1952 when Debbie truly became a star when she played opposite Gene Kelly and Donald O’Connor in one of Hollywood's all time great classics, Singin' In the Rain. Reynolds also enjoyed great success with movies such as The Unsinkable Molly Brown and How the West Was Won.
Debbie Reynolds will perform in Resorts’ Superstar Theater Sunday, September 7 through Friday, September 12 (dark Sept 8). Showtime is at 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9 p.m. on Friday. Tickets are priced at $40 and can be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-736-1420 or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com.
